The biggest mobile conference, Mobile World Congress (MWC), is only a few days away and it won’t be long before the city of Barcelona is flooded with people from all the world for this yearly pilgrimage (last year it surpassed 100,000 attendance mark!). The annual conference sees some big announcement from the tech giants, most particularly in the smartphone category. This year, the possibility of the return of Nokia’s legendary phone 3310 has already teased imaginations and expectations from the show. From ad tech enthusiasts, to mobile professionals, tech analysts and industry watchers, the 4-day trade show has everyone watching out for what will be the next thing!
We spoke to experts from the ad tech industry to find out what they are looking forward to the most at this year’s edition of MWC:
Josh Swerdlow, Head of Europe, HasOffers by TUNE:
“MWC has become the best mobile conference in the world. Seeing companies like Samsung choose MWC to make announcements and showcase their newest products, is a testament to MWC. For me this event is the best Europe has to offer for mobile marketing, networking and re-connecting with all my European clients and friends in the industry. For me this is one European conference not be missed!”
Emily Carrion, Head of Marketing, Apptentive:
I’m expecting to see a lot of innovation using voice technology at MWC this year. With huge brands like Starbucks integrating voice into their apps to take their CX to the next level, I suspect we’ll see many more use cases on the show floor. I’m also really looking forward to connecting with the greater mobile community. The best part about MWC is the relationships you form at the show and grow throughout the year; whether they’re partners, customers, or friends, we all have a lot to learn from each other and MWC provides a common cause.”
Daniele Bagnagatti, Senior Director Advertiser Sales, Fyber:
“Mobile video will be the talk of the town in Barcelona. After walking away from this year’s Mobile World Congress, many marketers will start to realize the significant amount of time users spend on their mobile devices. And in order to reach these engaged users, marketers will look to mobile video for its non-intrusive, engaging experience it provides.”
Last but not the least of course, Rishi Agarwal, MD AppLift India
“From the latest releases in mobile hardware to innovations in futuristic technologies such as VR, MWC has always been an important event every year for the app advertisers. The innovations that we see at MWC shape and define the service and technology providers, such as those in the business of ad tech. While the mobile world shall converge to celebrate the mobility, hall 8.1 would be buzzing with performance and brand marketeers and publishers looking to get the most out of their ROAS and trying to maximize their revenues through new and innovative ways!”
